Lesson 1
Using the Multi-Threaded Server
The Multi-Threaded Server (MTS) is a powerful supplement to the standard Oracle listener, and allows for hundreds or even thousands of concurrent Net8 connections from remote clients.
This module looks at how MTS is tied to the Oracle listener and how MTS differs from a dedicated listener.

Learning objectives
After completing this module, you will be able to:
  1. Define types of Oracle listeners
  2. Describe how MTS differs from a dedicated listener
  3. Describe how the dedicated listener spawns connections
  4. Identify the components of MTS
  5. Describe how MTS handles incoming connections
  6. Define the elements of MTS
The next lesson examines the underlying reasoning behind the development of MTS.
