Welcome to New Features for Backup and Recovery! This course introduces you to the newest features introduced in Oracle8i, which is designed to help you get better database performance. This course covers improvements in Oracle8i for indexes, queries, and the query optimizer; the use of index-organized tables; and a special feature called Advanced Queuing. In addition, Oracle8i includes a new feature called materialized views that can significantly improve the performance of some queries, such as data warehouse summary queries.
This is the fifth course in the five-part Oracle8i New Features Certification Series. Taken in conjunction with the other courses within this series, this course will prepare you to pass the Oracle8i New Features for Administrators certification exam. Along the way, you will work on a series of course projects and exercises that will give you a chance to put your new skills to use in the context of actual business scenarios.

9. Describe the effect checkpoint parameters and checkpoint command have on recovery
10. Implement parallel rollback with the fast-start feature
11. Set up a standby database and start up a read-only database
12. Describe the improvements in export and import
13. Implement duplex or multiple archive logs
14. Detect and repair corrupted block
15. Describe the functionality of LogMiner
16. Create reports and lists about backups
17. Use Enterprise Manager for backup and recovery
