Objective: Change distributor participation after a client revises a business rule.
Ted and Lisa want the Stories on CD database to store only distributors supplying at least one CD title. Potential distributors with no supplied titles must no longer appear in this model.
Previously, one distributor could supply 0..many CDs, while each CD had exactly one distributor. The new rule changes the minimum number of CDs per distributor from zero to one. The maximum remains many, and each CD still has exactly one distributor.
Read each endpoint as the number of instances at that end related to one instance at the opposite end. A circle means minimum zero, a bar means minimum one, and a crow's foot means maximum many. Double bars mean exactly one. Participation and identifying relationships are different: the latter concern key composition.
Revise the CD:DISTRIBUTOR connection on your ER diagram. In your response, name the changed endpoint symbol, state the new rule in both directions, and identify which entity’s participation changes. Explain whether cardinality or key placement changes. A concise text description is sufficient if you cannot paste a diagram.
Keep the other entities, attributes, relationships and key annotations unchanged. For this exercise, all stored distributor instances must satisfy the new rule; an unrelated CD supplied by a different distributor does not satisfy it.
Award 1 point for changing the CD-end minimum marker from a circle to a bar and stating that each distributor supplies 1..many CDs; award 1 point for retaining exactly one distributor per CD, the 1:N relationship, the existing key placement and other connections.
