Lock Utility Scripts - Exercise
Run Proper Utility Scripts
Objective:
Set up the Oracle lock contention identification utilities.
Exercise scoring
You will receive 10 points for this exercise. To receive full credit, you'll need to respond to the scenario presented below and prepare a list of utility scripts. Once you have completed your answer, you will submit your answer.
Background
You have been asked to prepare for possible lock holding contention in your Oracle database. If an end user were to call about a "hanging" transaction, you would need to quickly run a script to identify any Oracle sessions that are waiting for locks to be released.
Instructions
Based upon your knowledge from the prior lessons, prepare a list of Oracle utility scripts that would need to be executed in order to have the necessary dictionary views for seeing sessions that are waiting on tasks. Also list all of the views that you could interrogate to see sessions locks and sessions that are waiting in locks.
