Routing Connection Requests from the Client

Route connection requests from the client to the Server in Oracle

The following instructions outline the procedure for routing connection requests from the client.
  1. From the Oracle Oracle Net Assistant, select Profile from the tree directory.
  2. Click the down arrow next to Naming to display the drop-down list.
  3. Select General from the drop-down list. Normally your selection would be highlighted when you rest your mouse cursor on it. For the purposes of this simulation, simply click General.
  4. Click the Routing tab.
  5. Select the Use Dedicated Server check box to cause all connection requests for this client to be made using a dedicated server. Select the Use IPC Addresses for Client check box to force the client to always attempt a local connection first using inter-process communication(IPC) addresses. Then select the Use Source Route Addresses check box to route connections through Oracle Connection Manager first.
  6. At this point, you would choose Save from the File menu to save your configuration. This is the end of the simulation.
